Applications are now open for the World Bank Group Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP) 2027, one of the World Bank Group’s flagship career and leadership development programs for talented professionals interested in global development. The program offers an opportunity to work across the World Bank, IFC and MIGA while gaining international experience through structured rotations.

The World Bank Group Young Professionals Program 2027 is designed for professionals with strong technical expertise, relevant professional experience and a commitment to international development. Selected Young Professionals begin with a two-year program and complete three eight-month rotations, including a cross-institutional rotation and at least one rotation in a country office. Participants also receive training, coaching, mentorship and leadership development opportunities.

The program is based initially at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, DC, while rotation locations are determined according to program requirements, business needs and development objectives.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the World Bank Young Professionals Program 2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a graduate-level degree or higher in a relevant field, completed before the September 2027 start date.
  • Have 2–6 years of qualifying full-time professional experience as of September 1, 2026.
  • Have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for the selected professional stream.
  • Applicants must not be current World Bank Group employees at the time of application.

There is no age requirement for the WBG Young Professionals Program.

Available Professional Streams

Applicants can apply through one primary stream and may identify up to two additional streams where their background is relevant. Current areas include Investment, Education, Health, Social Protection, Economic Policies, Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation, Poverty and Equity, Climate, Environment, Water, Energy and Extractives, Transport, Urban Development, Digital Transformation, and Legal, among others.

Application Deadline

The World Bank Group YPP 2027 application deadline is September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM UTC. Late applications will not be considered.

Applicants should prepare their CV/resume, passport photo page and academic transcripts or enrollment documentation before applying. The application also includes two written statements of up to 400 words each.
